renault clio 2001 Y 40K AUTO 1.4?
I just bought the car from auction 3 weeks ago everything fixe new cam belt speed sensor etc. then while the car was still with the mecanic the auto gear box light came up again and safe mode 3rd gear only came again... fault oil pressure valve in the gear box??
how much will it cost me to fix??? already overspent on the car!!!
is it an easyone to repair?
ok the gearbox will not have to be removed to replace the pressure regulation valve. You need to remove the black sump from the front of the gearbox to gain access to the hydraulic distributor that contains all the solenoid valves. the solenoid valve should be available as a separate part from your local renault dealer. replace the valve and refit the hydraulic distributor. making sure the gear selector rod on the top of the distributor is in the same position as it was before you removed the unit. There are two problems you will have.. one is getting the oil level correct, because the gearbox has no dipstick ! Best advice i can give here is drain the gearbox oil into a container and measure the amount you get out, then you know roughly how much you need to put back in. second thing is the new valve will work on a different resistance value to the old one and may put the gearbox light on again at a later date. the ecu will tell you the valve is faulty again ! you will need to get a software update put into the ecu by a renault dealer for it to work correctly.
it is not the easiest repair to carry out, its a bit fiddly and very oily ! cost will depend on where you take it, a dealer would probably be around £400 ish
