Why does my fish have black patches/spots on him?
When I first got him he was bright orange. Now he has these random spots/patches of black on his fins and body. He is swimming fine and eats regularly. He seems very healthy. I did a 50% Partial water change and everything is good and clean. Why is this happening? Please dont answer if you dont know what your talking about! Thanks 
I've had this is situation myself a long time ago when I was newer with fish.
These black blotches are called " ammonia burns. " They are what is seen when a fish is RECOVERING from it. You need to make sure the tank size is big enough and that you clean it regularly.
NEVER change 50% of the water unless you can help it. 25% a week is the normal. Fish get stressed from water changes, even if the water change is for the better. There are levels of ammonia and nitrate, and other things that change which affect the fish, making them stressed out, giving them sicknesses, and for some fish, death or near death experiences. Your fish should be fine though, just make sure you clean under 35% of the water next time =)
Ammonia burns generally look like random black circles or spots around the body but they can also look like this:

by the water just thought you should know I think he'll be just fine! Assuming he's a goldfish make sure he has at least a 10-15 gallon home!
