Is now a good time to upgrade my PC?
I CANT RUN FFXIV at full settings
i bought this PC in Dec. 2009
-radeon hd 4850 512MB
-i7 860 2.8GHz
-8GB 1330MHz RAM
-no raid or SSD
-no USB 3.0 or SATA iii
-mid end mobo for time of puchase
system i would get
-sabertooth x58 mobo
-i7 950 3.02GHz
-6GB 1800MHz RAM
-radeon HD 6870 1GB
-64GB high end SSD for os
-2TB x2 raid 0
is now a good time to upgrade and con this new system run FFXIV on max at at least 60FPS
is it very upgradeable
PS. i usually build myself so if you want to suggest a nice case or better MOBO fire away
PSS. should i crossfire 2 6870s or should i look into the 5800 series
as i said DIY lol no pun intended my budget is around $2,300
Hmm. The Sabertooth is good, as far as gaming quality and overall experience, but if you're concerned about the transfer rates (and plenty of people are) or the audio quality (another large group are also) then you should possibly consider the P6X58D-E, since the Sabertooth has the classic Realtek audio NIC set, which is admittedly good, it still is outperformed by Intel's audio solution.
Also, for overclocking, the Phase design on the P6X58D-E's board, is 16+2 while the Sabertooth's is only a 10+2 setup, so you have more stable power with the P6. It's arguable however, that most users may not even notice the difference, until you start going past the extreme overclocking, such as CPU speeds past 4.0-4.2 GHz.
And if you are going SLI/CF the sabertooth is limited to 4x in the third PCIe 16 slot, will run 16x/16x/4x, which means you have to put the cards side by side which is less than ideal for cooling. The P6X58D-E will let you run 16x/8x/8x for better multi-GPU spacing.
Hopefully that may make some competition for your decision of Motherboard selection.
Crossfiring 2 6870's would be the slightly less equivalent of 2 5870's according to the following review forums:

So if you want to squeeze every bit of power out, then you'd want the 5870's.
