How much and how often do you exercise while pregnant?
I seem to be getting a lot of heat for still exercising while pregnant and still having fitness goals. My doc said it is fine and since I have gained a bit too much weight for 15 weeks, he suggested I increase either the no. of days per week I exercise or the time on the days I do.
Before pregnancy 30 min per day 6 days per week
First 3 mos. pregnancy 30 min per day 3 days per week (more some weeks, less some weeks depending on how tired I was)
Starting second trimester, 20 min per day 6 days per week
What do you think of this and how often did you exercise while prego?
Did you still have fitness goals (e.g. increasing time, endurance or strength, increasing resistance, speed, etc...)?

I worked out all through this pregnancy and weight lifted ( still moderately heavy ) and did cardio 3-4 times a week as well . My fitness goals were just to " maintain " the muscle mass that I had prior to pregnancy . That's all you should do is " maintain " and should NOT push yourself with goals while pregnant . In this pregnancy I have only gained 18lbs and believe me I eat just healthy . Plus still have a good amount of muscle mass and have not put on too much body fat.
I'm really surprised that your Dr. told you to increase your work outs - I'm not a Dr. but I am a Certified Personal Trainer . IMO I would not increase your work outs I would stick with what you are already doing . If its a weight issue he should have looked at your diet if you are gaining too fast .
Just be careful and listen to your body, eat healthy and drink plenty of water . There is NOTHING wrong with trying to stay fit while pregnant - you and your baby will benefit as well . PLUS you will have a easier pregnancy . Mine has been fabulous .
